Once a Kiosk is registered, you manage it day-to-day through profiles in Remy and a few controls on the device itself. Profiles let you store a complete device configuration — welcome screen, menu, checkout settings, and security PIN — so you can apply a consistent experience across every device or switch setups on the fly. This guide walks you through working with profiles, setting up the welcome screen, and understanding how Kiosk locking works.

Profiles

A profile is a saved Kiosk configuration. Profiles give you two key capabilities:
  • Apply the same setup to multiple Kiosks so every device runs an identical, consistent experience.
  • Keep multiple configurations on hand and switch a device between them as needed — for example, a lunch profile and a dinner profile, or a slimmed-down patio profile.

What a profile contains

A profile bundles every device-level setting in one place:

Working with profiles in Remy

1

Create a new profile

Select Create a New Profile in Remy and give it a name that clearly describes its purpose — for example, “Front counter”, “Patio lunch”, or “Dinner service”.
2

Configure each section

Work through the four sections — Welcome Experience, Menu, Check Out, and Security — and dial in the settings for this profile.
3

Assign the profile to a device

During device registration, choose the profile using Select Profile. To switch an already-registered Kiosk to a different profile later, select the new profile from the device’s settings — the new configuration applies immediately.
4

Rename profiles as you grow

Use Rename Profile to keep names clear and meaningful as you add more profiles over time.
When you edit a profile, every Kiosk assigned to that profile updates automatically — no need to reconfigure each device by hand. If you run multiple stations or locations, build one profile per setup and assign it to every Kiosk that should run that configuration.

Welcome Screen

The welcome screen is what guests see before they tap to start an order. You configure it in Remy under Welcome Experience.
1

Open Welcome Experience

Navigate to the profile’s Welcome Experience screen in Remy.
2

Upload your media

Tap Choose image or video for welcome screen and upload your asset. The recommended image size is 1366 × 1024 px (4:3). You can use a still image or a looping video.
3

Toggle overlays

Enable or disable the overlays that layer on top of the welcome screen:
  • Order Here
  • Tap to Continue
  • Pay by Tap
  • No Cash
  • Wait Time
4

Add a Welcome Notice (optional)

Turn on Welcome Notice and enter a short message to surface timely information to guests — for example, “Check out our new items!”.
5

Save

Save the profile. The updated welcome screen goes live on every device running that profile.

Locking

Locking the iPad keeps guests on the Lumina Kiosk app so they can’t switch to other apps, change device settings, or exit to the home screen. Locking is handled by iOS Guided Access, Apple’s built-in single-app mode.
1

Turn on Guided Access

On the iPad, open Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access, turn it on, then set a Guided Access passcode. Keep this passcode somewhere your team can access but guests cannot.
2

Open the Lumina Kiosk app

Launch Lumina Kiosk and leave it on the welcome or ordering screen.
3

Start Guided Access

Triple-click the top (or side) button, then tap Start. The iPad is now locked to the Lumina Kiosk app.
4

End Guided Access to unlock

Triple-click the top (or side) button again and enter your Guided Access passcode to exit.
Locking your Kiosks directly from Remy is coming soon, so you’ll be able to lock and unlock devices remotely without touching the iPad.

Returning to operator controls

To reach operator settings inside the app, a staff member can:
  1. Tap Need Help? on the Kiosk screen.
  2. Select Go to Admin Dashboard.
  3. Enter the security PIN when prompted: “Enter the security PIN to access Admin Dashboard.”
The PIN is the 4-digit unlock code set in the device’s profile under Security settings. Keep it somewhere your team can access but guests cannot.

Menu Management

Build and organize the menu your Kiosk shows guests, including Collections and item modifiers.
